Angelite and mother-of-pearl, corded by hand in Rome. The beads are heavier than most, which sounds like a small thing until you're praying with it — you feel each one pass, and it's harder to lose your place.

The centerpiece is the Miraculous Medal, given to St. Catherine Labouré in a Paris chapel in 1830. Around the edge is the prayer Our Lady gave her: O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee. She told Catherine the rays falling from her hands were graces she was waiting to give, and that so few of them fell because so few people thought to ask.
